Financial Conservatism and Transparency in Government

As Mayor, I promise that taxpayer dollars will be spent responsibly, that all city officials are held accountable, and that the best interests of our community members always come first. 

The process of preparing our annual budgets will be an “Open to the Public” and “Open to the Common Council” endeavor. All our financial reports will be posted online for all to see and analyze. We will strive to maintain at least 20 percent of annual budget in our “Operating Reserve Account” (which is the gold standard in municipal finance). Any amount exceeding 20 percent will be invested in projects to benefit our citizens, not left to sit in a bank account. Our city’s bond rating will continue to improve. I am dedicated to ensuring the best return on investment for every tax dollar spent, with constant oversight and input from residents on what they want and need. 

And your Mayor’s Office will be accessible and open to all citizens, by phone, mail, e-mail, website, and good old-fashioned Office Hours. You will know your mayor as “Dave,” and the buck will always stop with me. I will work with our 300+ city employees, and WE all will work for you!
